Why ASI Build Was The Right Custom Steel Building Choice For Our Undercover Indoor Arena
Planning a Custom Steel Building should not be taken lightly, and as a long-time member of my local riding club, I take a keen interest in what’s going on at our club and how things are developing. Our primary concern is to always look for ways to improve our facilities and services for members and guests.
Ever since I first joined, we’ve had an outdoor fenced arena for holding our events, shows and clinics. While this has been adequate, we came to feel that we have been hampered somewhat by not having an indoor facility. We want to provide shade from the heat of the Queensland summer while also having protection from the rain.
The general consensus was that we want to be able to run our full program of yearly events rain, hail or shine – without being worried about the weather. So, we put the construction of an indoor arena at the top of our to do list.
At our club, we’re all about providing a safe, relaxed and fun competition and learning environment – with safety always being front and centre. So, we didn’t want to proceed on this project until we did some thorough research on construction options to make sure we made the right choices.
So our research phase began
To be honest, our research was cause for alarm. We found that there are important engineering standards and practices when it comes to constructing steel buildings – and that A LARGE PECENTAGE OF BUILDERS DON’T COMPLY WITH THOSE STANDARDS AND PRACTICES.
Some builders are still using designs from the 1950s! How can that even be legal? Obviously, there have been vast design improvements since then – and after all, a shed’s only as strong as its weakest component. So, we wanted to make sure the builder we chose complied with all relevant regulations.
After talking with our city council, who was the developer, we also checked out the building contractor, who they were subcontracting the design and construction work to. When we looked into the subcontractor – ASI Build – our concerns quickly evaporated. ASI has invested a great deal in compliance analysis and engineering to ensure that all ASI buildings are assembled to comply with Australian building codes.
Going with a company that used Australian materials was also important to us, but only if we didn’t have to compromise on quality. We found that ASI Build uses BlueScope steel, which has been Australia and New Zealand’s leading steel company for nearly 100 years.
Clearly we did a bit of checking into BlueScope and were more than happy with what we discovered regarding strength and durability. This steel is backed by structural and workmanship warranties – and it’s regularly performance-monitored at testing sites around Australian to make sure it can withstand our harsh weather conditions.
What our custom steel building due diligence uncovered
At this stage, we had 2 ticks on our action plan list – we liked the subcontractor and also the materials they used. The last item on the list that we wanted to tick was recent projects – to see what a completed building looked like. Yes, ASI Build could talk the talk, but could they walk the walk?
We paid close attention to ASI Build’s custom steel building project at Narangba because it was a similar size to what we were planning for. We were impressed with how they were able to so completely address the client’s specific design requirements.
So, we went ahead with our development plans – and are now well into the construction phase. We’re watching with a sense of excitement, seeing our plans come to fruition. Everything is running smoothly. When we have a question, it’s answered promptly. We’re given regular updates that include full and complete reports.
It seems like nothing is too much trouble for ASI Build.
I think the best thing of all is the peace of mind we have – the peace of mind that comes from knowing we have the right people working for us. We’ve always been so very proud of our club – but knew that not having indoor facilities was holding us back to some degree.
Not for much longer. Soon, we’ll have a state-of-the-art indoor facility that our members can use and enjoy – thanks to ASI Build!
